The Basics of Video Conferencing Program
A video conference is one of the many interactive technologies used between two or more people in different locations through simultaneous audio and video transmissions. It enables people to share different information such as pictures, data, sound and documents. Rather than individuals, it usually caters to a number of people such as in conferences.
Equipments needed in Video Conferencing
The monitor enables us to have a glimpse of the person whom we are talking to. More than one monitor is needed in large scale video conferencing.
This is important in order to run video conferencing programs and at the same time, is also used to capture the video. The camera quality however may not be as important. Standard desktop webcams can be used for personal use. On the other hand, a better camera model may still be preferable.
Control over the video camera used along with some internal settings is required. The software installed into the system often contains the controls in desktop video conferencing systems, while the controls are found mostly in hardwares and are installed on the cameras used for professional/ business purposes. Most lucrative models enable the user to change the camera settings without even touching the camera.
A codec is either a hardware or software which is used to decompress or compress data which may be handy for a better delivery. It is used to take analog-video signals. These signals are then compressed into a digital form before it would be sent out. Decompressing and un-digitizing videos that were captured is made possible with the use of the codec. A codec with poor quality will also have a highly noticeable poor video and audio signals.
A microphone used to transmit the audio along with speakers transmitting the audio is the components of the video conferencing system. As with the other equipments, higher audio quality is ensured in more expensive ones. Multiple microphones are used so as to enhance the capture a number of users in video conferencing.
Choosing a video conferencing program
In choosing a video conferencing system, it is important to consider the purpose of your system. The equipment to be used and the people who will be involved in the conference must be determined. This is to ensure the quality of the communication that will take place. As stated above, better equipments are to be used for professional/ business purposes.
The number of locations which are needed in the conference must be known so as to provide the needed resources in each of the locations. Multi-point conferencing will need more resources as it has more locations involved.
The room to be used in the video conferences must be able to provide the participants with comfort. It must be conducive for the conduct of the meetings. It must have adequate lighting, sufficient size and other factors which may enhance the video conferencing.
The internet serves as a medium between computers in video conferencing. Thus, it is important that the connection used is conducive for the conferences that would be taking place.
