A Review of Video Conferencing Products
Video conferencing has suddenly become one of the most convenient and easily accessible methods of communication. You can go into any internet café and talk to your friends and family through a webcam and a microphone. You do not have to be a technical expert to be able to do video conferencing because it is so easy and you can learn it about a few minutes.
It is also relatively cheap when you already have all the equipment with you especially when you compare it with making video calls on your cellular phone. So what are the things that you need to actually need to begin video conferencing?
Basic Video Conferencing Units
When you are just planning to use video conferencing for your personal use like chatting with your friends and family, you do not have to buy anything highly technical, expensive or very fancy. Keep things simple and just go with what you really need and nothing that you really do not need or will be able to use.
What you really need is just a basic video conferencing unit which usually just involves a computer, a webcam and a headset with a microphone or you could buy a microphone for your computer. Most laptops have a built-in webcam and microphone so if you have one of those, you are all set.
If you are planning to splurge, get a camera that can get high quality shots and does not blur when you are moving. These can get pretty expensive but if you really want to get the best then these are the webcams that you should get. There are also some microphones that can pick up the slightest sounds and these are also quite expensive. You really do no need to get these if you want to be practical because the cheapest webcams are not really that bad. Besides, the point is that you still get to see the person that you are talking to even if it is not that clear.
Advanced Video Conferencing Units
For business conferences, there are more advanced units available for you to be able to conduct meetings even from a distance. These involve a more complicated set-up of monitors, speakers, microphones and cameras.
Usually, the companies that sell these video conferencing units have bundles for their products where you will be able to purchase an entire set instead of buying them one at a time. There are some simple units that have just one monitor with a speaker and a camera hooked up to an internet connection.
There are others that are more complex and involve about 2 or more monitors and a great microphone that can pick up sounds from across the room. This set-up is ideal for holding a board meeting so that you can talk to everyone and hear their suggestions without them having to yell it out.
There are also some set-ups that are optimized for holding lectures in front of great audience. Some companies offer set-ups that are especially created for hospitals so doctors will be able to give consultations even if they are at a different.
