• Point-to-point communication

This type of communications is most commonly used for personal purposes. It involves two-way audio and video that enables two people to have a face-to-face conversation. It can also be referred to as small scale conferencing. It can be used in connecting with family, friends and loved ones.

• One-to-many video conferencing

In this type of conference, a number of users who are linked to a main site are served by a single video feed. This type of conference may be used in educational purposes such as lectures. In this setting, the lecturer may see and hear all of his students while all of the students may in turn see and hear their lecturer, but may not be able to do so with their classmates. It may also be used during board meetings.

• Many-to-many video conferencing

It is also known as multi-point connection. In this type of conference, there are more than two sites involved. Each of the sites is provided with audio and video which are interconnected with one another. It may also be considered as a large scale conference. It is typically used in large meetings. Each of the participants can hear and see one another.
